Ghydda is the best - and you know it...!

Hi and thank's for visiting my homepage, please notice that this is not a regulary updated site as it is merely for my own pleasure and enjoyment. However, You are welcome to keep browsing and I hope my layout doesn't make You physically sick.

Now I'm finally getting close. Exam is getting close now. Actually, the FINAL exam. I'm so glad it is all over soon. After 18 years of education, no money and no spare time, I'm really getting feed up. I have issued a counter to keep track of the remaining days.

Whether You approve or not, I have been using AMD extensively. In fact, I have only had 1 (one!) Intel CPU in my short, but expensive, relationship with PC's, and it was a i80486 DX4/100 MHz OverDrive! It had it's own power regulator built in, so it could fit in a 5V motherboard. And it got very very hot, couldn't even clock 120 MHz, without locking up within the boot sequence.

Actually, the CPU-list looks something like this:

1993 - An old used 286 16MHz Siemens CPU
1994 - AMD 486 DX2 66MHz
1996 - Intel 486 DX4 100MHz OverDrive!
1997 - AMD K6 200MHz
1998 - AMD K6-2 350@385MHz
1999 - AMD Athlon 500MHz
2000 - AMD Athlon 500@700MHz (not yet, mind you)
2001 - Who knows, but maybe a dual Athlon configuration...

Well, here's my current configuration:

Cabinet: EMS Maxi Tower, 300W PSU
CPU: AMD Athlon 500MHz
  Alpha1HO-FAN Cooler
  Peltier Element, 50 Watt
Motherboard: FIC SD11
Memory: 3x128MB PC100 MemoryCard, CAS latency 2
Graphics Card: Matrox G200 Marvel, 8+8MB, running at 110/147MHz, still going strong...
SCSI Controller: Adaptec 2940UW, oldie but goldie
Adaptec 2904CD, dedicated to the toaster and the tape drive
RAID Controller: Promise Ultra66 Controller, modified for RAID-capability
Harddrives: IBM DCHS04Z OEM, SCSI-II 4.5GB
  IBM DDRS-39130Y, SCSI-SCA 9.1GB
  IBM DFHSS1W, SCSI-II 1GB
  Quantum Viking II, U2W 9.1GB
  Seagate ST34371N, SCSI-II 4.2GB
  2 Maxtor Diamond Max 40+, ATA-66 30GB, running RAID0
Optical Drives: Plextor 40Max TSi
  Pioneer DVD-U03S, 6/32xSpeed
  Panasonic CW-7502, 4/8xSpeed
Tape drive: Hewlett Packard HP35470A
Floppydrive: Panasonic 3½"
Sound Card: SoundBlaster Live! Value with...
  Homemade S/P-DIF extension board
Net Adapter: Accton EN1207D-TX Fast Ethernet Adapter 10/100 MBit
Mouse: Logitech Mouseman Wheel
Monitor: Hansol 501P

Come to think of it, that's pretty much junk stuffed into one cabinet. Actually, whenever one of the guys brings over their harddrive for some data-swapping, I have to use a seperate PSU for the drive. Otherwise my primary PSU shuts down within 5-6 sec. (did someone say power overload?).

Now let's see if we can build one of those Athlon OC-modules...
